Kirkman-Liff's current research is focused on knowledge management
and its application in health care. He has worked with a 20-hospital
system in the Western U.S. to share best clinical practices to improve
patient safety and outcomes. He is now collaborating with a number of
community health organizations to build a knowledge-learning network
in metropolitan Phoenix. He is also examining the integration of
knowledge management techniques in the drug discovery process in
pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. He is also interested in
health reform in advanced economies, such as the Netherlands, Germany,
France, the United Kingdom and Canada, and lessons that van be drawn
from those nations for health reform for the United States. He is also
interested in simulation models of health systems and nations, and in
how social networks exchange knowledge when they use such simulations.
