Nancy Roberts joined the faculty of the Department of Economics in January 1984. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from Arizona State University. Her teaching interests are in microeconomic theory and public sector economics. Roberts is the coordinator of the Graduate Teaching Assistant's Training Program in the Department of Economics, conducts seminars for the Arizona Council on Economic Education, and is a member of the editorial board for the Balkan Economic Review.
Dr. Roberts was the recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award for the Arizona State University College of Business, the winner of the Golden Key National Honor Society Outstanding Professor Award, the winner of the prestigious Last Lecture Series Award, a four time finalist for the John W. Teets Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching, and a finalist for the Arizona State University Professor of the Year. She is a Lincoln Scholar with the Joan & David Lincoln Center for Ethics, a member of the Academic Advisory Council of the Goldwater Institute, an affiliate of the Russian and East European Studies Consortium and a Liberty Fellow with the Center for the Study of Economic Liberty.
As a Fulbright Scholar, Professor Roberts spent a semester lecturing and conducting research at the University of Sts. Kiril and Metodij in Skopje, Macedonia. She has been a visiting scholar and lecturer at the Leon Kozminski Academy of Entrepreneurship and Management in Warsaw, Poland, the University of Prishtina in Kosovo, and the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in Shanghai, China. Dr. Roberts is currently the facilitator for a U.S. Department of State grant to develop curriculum and pedagogy at the University of Haxhi Zeka in Peja, Kosovo, and within the Faculty of Economics at the University of Prishtina in Kosovo. As a representative of the National Council on Economic Education, Roberts visited Ukraine and Lithuania where she studied curricular reforms in the transition economies of the former Soviet Union. Roberts is the Faculty Advisor to ASU Students for Liberty, an organization whose mission is to provide a unified, student-driven forum of support for students and student organizations dedicated to liberty.
