Arthur (Art) Blakemore is the vice provost for student success in the Office of the Provost at Arizona State University. He is also a professor in the Department of Economics. His specialties are in labor and human capital economics and productivity analysis. He joined ASU in 1979, and had two visiting professorships abroad at the Australian National University (1989) and London School of Economics (1993). Prior to joining ASU, Blakemore served as a senior staff economist on the Council on Wage and Price Stability and was a staff economist on the Council of Economic Advisers in the Executive Office of the President in Washington, D.C.
He received his doctorate in economics from Southern Illinois University, master’s degree in urban economics and a bachelor’s degree in management science from the University of Detroit.
