Kathryn Rico is Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the School of Earth and Space Exploration at ASU.
Rico's research involves the biogeochemical cycling of macronutrients (e.g., carbon) and metals (e.g., iron and manganese) in aquatic environments, especially as it relates to the co-evolution of life and early Earth and lake response to anthropogenic change. In particular, Rico's work evaluates the mechanisms (i.e. redox chemistry and microbiology) for trace metal burial in modern and ancient aquatic environments.
