With over a decade of experience in higher education, José Irizarry currently serves as a Manager in the Admission Services department at Arizona State University. In this role, he oversees a team of four full-time staff and six to ten student workers within the Frontline team—the central call center for Admission Services. His team is responsible for resolving applicant issues, managing escalated inquiries, and ensuring a seamless admissions experience for prospective students. Irizarry also collaborates with senior leadership and cross-departmental partners to optimize workflows, track compliance, and support operational efficiency.
Before joining Admission Services, Irizarry began his career at ASU with Global Launch as the Welcome Desk Manager. There, he supervised student workers, assisted Admission Officers with international student applications, and served as a Designated School Official (DSO). In this capacity, he helped international students navigate immigration requirements, created I-20s, and presented on F-1 visa policies to large student groups. His early work with Global Launch gave him a strong foundation in compliance, student advising, and cross-cultural communication.
Prior to ASU, Irizarry gained valuable experience at the University of Central Florida, where he managed front desk operations for Career Services. He supervised student assistants, coordinated advisor scheduling, supported major university career fairs, and served on hiring committees. These experiences allowed him to develop strong leadership, customer service, and event management skills that continue to inform his work today.
