Long Bio

Dr. Huffman has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from U.C., Riverside, and has completed post-doctoral work at the Mayo Clinic and ASU. Serving as a faculty member at ASU Polytechnic since 2004, she was instrumental in establishing the Chemistry Program at ASU Poly, and served as the President of the Faculty Senate from 2008 to 2010. She has taught courses in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, organic chemistry, chemistry for engineers, fermentation and other special topics courses. Recently, she has been doing research analyzing the nutritional content of foods from aeroponic gardens and has previously supervised research projects on enzyme kinetics, and the oral microbiome. Her current passion is learning more about the health ramifications of the microbiome, gut health and the wide applications of fermentation, she enjoys doing many types of fermentation in her day to day life.
