Liv is originally from the suburbs of Seattle, WA, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in German and in English Literature from Western Washington University. While at WWU she also earned her Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Certificate. As a student worker and member of various clubs on campus Liv saw that getting involved and making connections on campus are key to the college experience.
From 2016 to 2018 Liv served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the country of Georgia. She mainly worked in English education working with local teachers in their classrooms and to assist in their professional development. Outside of class she organized many educational enrichment opportunities, including summer camps and weekend conferences for youth to learn more about environmental issues and activism. Liv is passionate about lifelong learning and enjoys connecting people with different kinds of educational opportunities.
Liv completed a Master’s degree in Language, Reading & Culture at the University of Arizona, during which she studied research-based and culturally relevant literacy education practices. While working as a substitute English as a Second Language instructor at Pima Community College she received her Adult Basic Education Teaching Certificate. She also led field trips and was an AmeriCorps member at Tucson Village Farm, where she taught kids about the environment and nutrition.
