Bola Akinrolabu is the Program Manager for the XRts Fellowship Program at the Media and Immersive eXperiences (MIX) Center, Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts, Arizona State University. Prior to joining the Herberger Institute, Bola worked as a Research Assistant at De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom, where he is also currently completing his PhD at the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD). As a researcher, both on his own PhD project and other university projects, Bola's work has focused around the impact of XR-inspired interventions on society, in relation to health and wellbeing, especially for incarcerated populations.
In his current role at the MIX Center, Bola facilitates collaboration between faculty, staff and fellows from the MIX Center, ASU Gammage, ASU California Center, and the School of Arts, Media and Engineering to develop and evaluate component programs of the XRts initative, including the XRts Fellowship Program, and work-based learning experiences around Media Arts. His work with the first cohort of fellows at the Herberger Institute includes supporting Fellowship projects, client-based work, and communications.
