Sean Bowie serves as a Professor of Practice in ASU's School of Public Affairs within the Watts College of Public Service and Community Service, a role he has held since 2017.
Bowie previously served as a member of the Arizona State from 2017 to 2023, representing the old Legislative District 18, which encompassed Ahwatukee, west Chandler, south Tempe, and southwest Mesa.
During his time in the Senate, Bowie regularly worked across the aisle and across chambers to pass substantive legislation impacting the lives of millions of Arizonans, including groundbreaking investments in our K-12 education system and our state universities.
Bowie had seven bills signed into law, the most of any member of his party during his tenure, including the Mitch Warnock Act, which requires regular mental health training and support services for all educators in grades 5 through 12 throughout Arizona.
Bowie received his Master's degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy in 2013, and his Master's degree in Business Administration from ASU's W.P. Carey School of Business in 2023.
Bowie regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses, including PAF 112 (Public Service and American Democracy), PAF 160 (Surviving the 21st Century), PAF 400 (Senior Capstone Project), and PAF 494/591 (Arizona Policymaking), a course he built on the policymaking process in Arizona.
Bowie lives by the motto of his alma mater, Carnegie Mellon University, "my heart is in the work."
