Arely Castillo will be completing her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences (Conservation Biology and Ecology) in the Spring of 2025. She is a 4+1 Accelerated Master's student working under Dr. Heather Throop, analyzing the recovery of plant communities, both native and non-native, across 82,000 acres of the Sonoran Desert, focusing on how abiotic factors affect spatial heterogeneity to investigate the interactions between fire severity, soil properties, elevation, and topography. She holds 4 Associate's degrees from the College of the Canyons.
