Long Bio
Matthew Bird is an Outreach Experiences Coordinator for Access ASU, where he leads the design, coordination, and implementation of multi-year cohort programs and college-readiness initiatives. Driven by a commitment to educational equity, Matthew designs high-impact workshops and community events that empower K-12 students and their families to navigate pathways to higher education and the 21st-century workforce.
Prior to this role, Matthew served as the student Chief of Staff for ASU’s Next Generation Service Corps , managing large-scale community projects and cultivating partnerships across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. His professional approach blends a background in community-centered investigative journalism with a deep focus on design thinking, data-driven strategy, and first-generation student advocacy.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications, alongside a Certificate in Cross-Sector Collaboration from the Watts College of Public Service at Arizona State University.
