Miguel Soto

First-generation Mechanical Engineering student at Arizona State University, with minors in Political Science and Classical Civilizations, and a strong interest in public policy, infrastructure, and governance informed by technical expertise. I am motivated by how engineering decisions, historical precedent, and policy frameworks shape transportation systems, public works, and long-term community development.

My experience spans technical proposal writing, data analysis, and public-facing administration, including participation in NASA L’SPACE, where I collaborated in interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and improve current NASA technologies. As a Student Administrative Assistant with the ASU Foundation, I support development operations through CRM (Salesforce) data management, reporting, and coordination—building skills relevant to policy implementation, stakeholder engagement, and institutional workflows.

As a former Dorrance Scholar, I am deeply committed to leadership, public service, and academic excellence, completing extensive community service and international study across Europe. I currently lead the development of community gardens within ASU residence halls, coordinating with campus administrators to promote sustainability, food security, and student engagement—an experience that reflects my interest in local policy, civic collaboration, and sustainable infrastructure.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, I bring a community-centered, systems-oriented perspective to engineering-driven policy challenges and aspire to contribute to public-sector, legislative, or infrastructure-focused roles where technical knowledge and policy insight intersect.
