Oquendo Bernard

Oquendo Bernard is a PhD student in Spanish Linguistics in the School of International Letters and Cultures. With a deep love for the Spanish language and its diverse cultures, he is committed to advancing both scholarship and teaching in the field of Hispanic linguistics. As a Graduate Teaching Associate, he has taught a range of basic undergraduate Spanish courses in both hybrid and fully online formats. These experiences have allowed him to refine his instructional approach and support students in developing meaningful linguistic and cultural competencies.

His research interests span Hispanic linguistics, second language acquisition and teaching, bilingualism, and listening comprehension/L2 perception. Through this work, he seeks to contribute to a better understanding of how learners perceive and process Spanish as a second language, particularly within bi/multilingual contexts.
