Michael Cannon is a PhD student in the Department of Management & Entrepreneurship at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. His research focuses on misconduct in organizations, including unethical behavior, interpersonal mistreatment, and performance failures. He also studies employee proactivity, including how people use artificial intelligence at work, and how work experiences both shape and are shaped by life outside the workplace.
Prior to his PhD, Michael worked in fraud operations and risk analytics at Brex during its startup phase, before its acquisition by Capital One. He led analytics-driven improvements to fraud and transaction monitoring processes, including reducing friction for legitimate, large-dollar transfers initiated by some of the company’s largest and highest-value clients.
