Ani Gazazyan is a Armenian-American scholar who was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. She earned her B.A. in English from California State University, Northridge, before relocating to Orange, California to pursue her M.A. in English at Chapman University. During her time at Chapman, she served as a Graduate Student Instructor for her designed course, English 103: Rhetoric and Composition of Popular Culture.
She is currently a Ph.D. Student in English (Writing, Rhetorics, and Literacies) at Arizona State University. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant at ASU, she has taught a wide range of courses, including English 101, 102, 105, 107, 108, 215, 216, 301, and 302. In addition to her work at ASU, she continues to teach composition courses at community colleges within the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCD) and the South Orange County Community College District (SOCCD).
Her research broadly examines the pedagogical use of popular culture in the teaching of rhetoric and composition, with a particular emphasis on access-oriented institutions. Her dissertation advances this work by foregrounding the need for accessible, equitable, and sustainable forms of pedagogical support for instructors working within these contexts. Specifically, she investigates how integrating popular culture into composition curricula can both enhance student engagement and challenge institutional barriers, while also addressing the structural constraints instructors face. Through this focus, her work seeks to contribute to more inclusive teaching practices and to reimagine how support systems can better serve educators and students in access-oriented environments.
