Amanda Ormond is a Professor of Practice in the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory and the co-founder and Executive Director for the Just Energy Transition (JET) Center. The JET Center focuses on supporting community and regional transition to post-coal-dependent economies. Amanda possesses more than 30 years of business experience working in energy and public policy in Arizona and the West.
For the past two decades she has managed the Ormond Group LLC, a consulting firm specializing in education, advocacy and policy development for clean energy and efficient use of the transmission system. Working on behalf of non-profit, government and industry associations Amanda advocated in state and regional policy and regulatory forums for client positions and works as a convener for industry, government, utility, and non-governmental organizations to implement collaborative solutions to develop the West’s vast renewable energy resources and the transmission to bring resources to market.
Prior to consulting, Amanda served as the Director of the Arizona Energy Office under two governors. In her seven years as Director she was responsible for developing legislation and promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy and alternative fueled vehicles throughout the state. She also served in four other positions at the Energy Office. She started her career working for a consulting firm that specialized in groundwater pollution assessment, mitigation and remediation.
