Rachel Rinker is a multi-disciplinary visual artist, musician and composer. Rinker earned their BFA with an emphasis in Painting from Clemson University in 2016. Home, relationships, integrated color theory. Organization, life cycles, accumulation, archive and entropy. Rest balancing rhythmic, painterly expressions and the unfurling of environments with layered personal history and human connections; reflecting life as it is experienced in a nonlinear fashion - Like ever growing scrapbooks and run-on sentences of the present moment - cyclical and always subject to change.
Rinker conducted research on natural dyes in silkscreen ink in 2022 with Zea Mays Printmaking, a green printmaking studio in Florence, MA. Other past artist residencies and work study positions include a one-month winter residency at Arteles Creative Center (Theme: Silence Awareness Existence) in Haukijärvi, Finland (2023), South Porch Artists Residency in Summerville, SC (2023), Snow Farm Craft School in Williamsburg, MA (2019) and Open Wabi in Fredericktown, OH (2018).
Rinker has been involved with ASU's New Music Ensemble (ACME) on Tempe campus since Spring of 2024 and premieres her first musical composition titled Yellow Breeze (and unclenched shoulders) during the Fall 2024 PRISMS Contemporary Music Festival hosted by ASU in Katzin Hall. Current research interests include Music, Memory, (Pseudo) Psychology, American Scrapbooking, Art History, Sound Art, Fluxus, Performance, Contemporary Music, Composition.
