James Canright

James Canright is an Emeritus Professor of botany with Arizona State University. 

His military service includes: U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn., 1942-43; Ensign to Lieutenant (R), 1943-46, LST 66, SW Pacific Area with 7th Fleet; Executive Officer, USCG Cutter Hermes, 11th Naval District.

His teaching and research experiences include:Teaching Fellow in Biology, Harvard University, 1946-49; Instructor to Professor of Botany, Indiana University, 1949-64; Professor & Chairman, Department of Botany Microbiology, Arizona State University, 1964-72; Professor of Botany, Arizona State University, 1972-85; Professor of Botany, Emeritus, 1985 - present.
