Jun Hyun (Joseph) Ryoo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing. He is an empirical researcher that applies econometric and machine learning methods to address marketing problems involving unstructured data (e.g., texts, images). Particularly, he develops and validates measures that extract interpretable insights from online data to assist managerial decision making. His work has appeared in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, and Journal of Retailing, and was finalist for the Donald R. Lehmann Award in 2023, and winner of the Research in Practice Award in 2024.
Joseph Ryoo currently serves on the editorial review board of Journal of Marketing. Prior to joining Arizona State University, he served as a faculty member at City University of Hong Kong from 2021 to 2023.
