Jun Hyun (Joseph) Ryoo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing. He is an empirical researcher who combines econometric methods and unstructured data analytics to explore issues in quantitative marketing, technology, and consumer welfare. By extracting actionable insights from online environments, such as review ecosystems and digital platforms, his work assesses how firm strategies, technological innovations, and consumer protection challenges, including privacy and data security, influence consumer choices and broader societal well-being.
His work has appeared in Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Journal of Retailing, and was finalist for the Donald R. Lehmann Award in 2023, and winner of the Research in Practice Award in 2024.
Joseph Ryoo currently serves on the editorial review board of Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Journal of Retailing, and has previously served for Journal of Marketing. Prior to joining Arizona State University, he served as a faculty member at City University of Hong Kong from 2021 to 2023.
