Long Bio
Gabriela Aros is a doctoral student at ASU's School of Transborder Studies. She earned Bachelor's degrees in Journalism as well as Women's and Gender Studies in 2023 at the University of Missouri. She moved to Arizona where she earned her Master's degree in Transborder Studies at Arizona State University in 2025.
Her Master's thesis titled "Motherhood and the Watchful Eye the Impact of U.S.-Mexico Border Control on Mothers in Borderlands," looked at the mechanisms of surveillance installed at the United States/ Mexico border and the ways this affects the mothering process. She plans to continue this research in pursuit of her PhD. Gabriela also does work in newspaper analysis with a focus on the representation of Latinos and Immigrants in newspapers.
