Kylie Frontczak

Kylie Frontczak is a doctoral candidate and graduate teaching assistant in the Department of English at Arizona State University (ASU). Born and raised in Arizona, she earned dual bachelor's degrees in English and Secondary Education from ASU, followed by a master's degree in Literacy Education with honors. Before beginning her doctoral studies, she taught high school English in the Phoenix area and worked with teacher professional development programs across local public school districts.

Her early research examined multimodal composition and reader-response pedagogies as approaches for fostering student engagement and literacy development in secondary classrooms.

Her current research sits at the intersection of rhetoric, writing studies, and higher education, examining how universities make sense of generative artificial intelligence(GenAI) technologies. Specifically, her dissertation investigates how faculty, administrators, and other institutional stakeholders rhetorically construct "The AI Problem" through competing metaphors, narratives, and cultural logics, and how these constructions shape institutional policies, organizational coordination, and educational responses to GenAI. In addition to her dissertation, she contributes to interdisciplinary research on AI in higher education, faculty development, and the evolving role of writing and rhetoric in an era of emerging technologies.
