Tami Hill-Washington

Tami Hill-Washington is a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University's Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation. She brings more than 20 years of experience across K–12 public education, higher education, and nonprofit leadership, with expertise in translating research into practice, educational leadership, organizational change, and systems improvement.

Previously, Tami served as Executive Director of the Center for Whole-Child Education at ASU, where she led efforts to translate insights from the science of learning and development, educator practice, and student experience into practical tools and approaches that support learning environments where students and adults can thrive. Prior to joining ASU, she spent nearly a decade at Turnaround for Children, a New York City–based nonprofit, where she held senior leadership roles supporting the implementation of Whole Child Design in collaboration with school districts, county offices of education, and strategic partners.

Her professional experience includes serving as a secondary social studies teacher, assistant principal, adjunct faculty member, and educational consultant. Across these roles, she has worked alongside educators and leaders to strengthen organizational capacity, navigate complex challenges, and translate research-informed approaches into meaningful and sustainable improvements in educational practice.

Tami brings a practitioner-informed, systems-level perspective to her work, grounded in the understanding that lasting educational change requires attention to relationships, organizational conditions, and the interconnected nature of learning and development.
