James Salisbury joined ASU Enterprise Brand Strategy and Management from the university's strategic marketing group in December 2013. A key member of the video production team, Salisbury engineers, produces and directs live ASU events. His work is aired via web and broadcast channels, and he oversees the day-to-day operation of the ASU Live channels, the university's online streaming video sources. Also, he produces full-length and short feature productions, from conceptual phase though post-production and distribution.
Salisbury's professional experience includes 35 years in television, public relations and marketing communications. He received an Emmy award in 2017 for his work on an ASU "Salute to Service" television program. He has served as the broadcast engineering supervisor of ASU's Distance Learning Technology broadcast system and as station manager of the university's cable television station (ASUtv), which appeared on the ASU campus cable television systems and in the Phoenix metropolitan area via commercial providers.
An ASU alumnus, Salisbury graduated cum laude from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and is a member of the National Honor Society. As a senior, he was the technical director of the Cronkite School's collegiate newscast, leading his production team to the school's first Hearst Award for best overall production of a newscast in 1996. He lives in Tempe, enjoys outdoor sports, and is an avid snow skier who has checked the Matterhorn off his bucket list.
