Phil Kain, CFA has more than 30 years of experience in commercial banking, leveraged finance, and private credit, Phil has built a career centered on helping businesses and financial sponsors navigate complex financing and strategic transactions.
Throughout his career, Phil has worked extensively with commercial banks, asset-based lenders, private credit funds, mezzanine investors, family offices, and institutional capital providers across a broad range of industries. He has closed well over 200 middle market transactions and has developed deep expertise in structuring and sourcing debt capital solutions for privately held companies, entrepreneurs, and private equity firms. Phil’s experience spans acquisition financing, recapitalizations, growth capital, refinancing, turnaround situations, and special situations advisory. Having spent decades inside the commercial banking and leveraged lending environment, he brings clients an insider’s perspective into how lenders, credit committees, and investors evaluate opportunities, assess risk, and structure transactions. This practical understanding of the capital markets allows him to help companies position themselves effectively and improve execution outcomes during highly competitive financing and M&A processes.
In addition to leading transactions, Phil is widely recognized for producing educational content focused on commercial lending, private credit, capital markets, and middle market finance. Phil earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, earned his M.B.A. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is based between Chicago and Phoenix and works closely with business owners, executives, and financial sponsors throughout the United States.
