Michael Kelly is the Director of Business Development in Corporate Engagement and Strategic Partnerships and Economic Development at ASU. In this role, he helps companies learn about engagement opportunities across the university with a special focus on sustainability, which is a hallmark of the university. Mike has over 20 years of experience in leadership and organizational development. At Wayne State University, he was responsible for the development, design, marketing, implementation and evaluation of consulting engagements, customized leadership development, executive education and certificate programs for corporate clients. He did similar work at Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne, where he led the Personal and Professional Development program within Continuing Studies. He excels at connecting organizations to higher education and leveraging resources from both to build, implement, and foster learning solutions that include training, research, consulting, strategic planning, executive coaching, and assessment.
Significant professional accomplishments include:
- leading partner engagement activities for the Southwest Sustainability Innovation Engine, a 10-year research program funded by the NSF, spanning three states (AZ, NV, UT), and focusing on new technologies in water, energy, and carbon, along with significant focus on workforce development, entrepreneurship, and underserved populations.
-a long-term Leadership Institute in partnership with Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana, a cohort-based program established to develop emerging talent across industry sectors.
- a Project Management Certificate Program that prepared working professionals to run effective projects in accordance with the Project Management Institute’s Book of Knowledge (PMBOK).
- an annual continuing education catalog of 800+ open-enrollment/public courses in leadership, business, computers, fitness, personal enrichment, languages, travel, and manufacturing.
- an Employee Assistance Specialist Professional Development Certificate for manufacturing associates tasked with supporting front line manufacturing workers.
- a robust, interdisciplinary continuing education program for government finance officials.
