Long Bio
Megan Smith has been an ASU teaching associate (TA) and a Spanish Linguistics PhD student since 2024. Her areas of focus include sociolinguistics, CALL, and second language acquisition and teaching. She spent her time studying abroad in Córdoba, Spain during her undergraduate studies to hone her language skills, which resulted in a deep appreciation for and interest in Andalusian culture and language patterns.
She has spent time teaching and tutoring Spanish and English to native speakers of both languages, collaborating with educators in Western Kentucky to increase media literacy in ELL students via Mayfield High School's Front Porch Experience and intercultural communication in monolingual students via Murray State's Upward Bound program. She continues to advocate for increased language education and accessibility in underserved regions of the state through her research.
