Joan C. Allen, ACSW, LCSW
Senior Counselor
Joan Allen has a
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work, both from
the University of Michigan. Her postgraduate training includes a
certificate in Coaching Individuals with ADHD and Certification
in Management Development from the University of
Massachusetts. Joan is fully licensed by the Arizona Board of
Behavioral Health Examiners and has earned accreditation from the
National Academy of Social Workers. She is a member of the
International Association of Employee Assistance Professionals in
Education and the National Association of Social Workers. Her
volunteer work includes providing counseling at the free medical
clinics administered by Cathedral Health Services.
Joan has worked at the Employee
Assistance Office since 1996 and has more than 25 years of experience
in the field of Social Work. Her areas of specialization include
coaching individuals with ADHD and their families; helping employees
handle stress and anxiety; work related problems; relationships;
managing transitions; substance abuse; disabilities; stalking;
workplace violence and organizational development. Joan’s
innovation and leadership helped pioneer a workplace violence threat
assessment team and develop protocol to respond to campus emergencies.
