Pankaj Mishra is a multidisciplinary researcher currently pursuing a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering at Arizona State University, where he is part of both the Chen Research Group and Dr. Dhruv Bhate's 3DX Research team. His research leverages computational modeling, mechanical engineering, and data science to advance innovation in manufacturing, sustainability, and thermal-fluid systems.
At ASU, Pankaj is actively engaged in two major projects. In collaboration with Dr. Dhruv Bhate, he explores the optimization of branching structures in Monolithic Heat Pipe Radiators (MHPR) for space applications, focusing on frequency domain analysis, stress characterization under dynamic excitation, and the impact of internal wick porosity and branch configuration on mechanical stability. In Dr. Xiangfan Chen’s group, Pankaj works on atmospheric water harvesting—designing bioinspired structural solutions based on cactus spines, scaling up the fabrication of hybrid aerogels, and integrating radiative cooling coatings for efficient vapor collection in arid environments.
Prior to joining ASU, Pankaj earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree from IIT Bhubaneswar, where he researched microfluidics, laser-assisted ceramic machining, and assistive wearable design. He has industry experience as a software developer and consultant with Pinnacle Consulting LLC, S20.AI, and ICICI Bank, contributing to automation, GIS, and machine learning projects.
Pankaj’s technical skills span MATLAB, Python, COMSOL Multiphysics, SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, IBM SPSS, and a range of modeling and analysis tools. He has presented research at the International Conference on Innovations in Thermo-Fluid Engineering and Sciences and is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
