John Marc Sianghio is the assistant director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict (CSRC). He holds an MDiv and PhD in Religious Ethics from the University of Chicago and an MA in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. John Marc has served in multiple administrative roles in higher education, military and non-profit organizations. He leverages this experience to advance the mission of the CSRC and support the initiatives of its staff and faculty.
John Marc continues to be an active public scholar exploring the intersection of religion, culture and conflict. His most recent projects seek to understand ways religious perspectives inform the ethics of war and enforcement of human rights norms amidst cultural, ideological and moral pluralism. His work is featured in academic volumes, journals, and conferences, as well as popular forums such as the “Huffington Post,” “RealClear Religion,” “Sightings” and “Word and Way.” He is also a former United Methodist Church pastor.
