W. P. Carey School of Business
Louis Hernandez is an Information Security student at Arizona State University's W. P. Carey School of Business, where he focuses on cybersecurity, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). He is a Dean's List honoree with an expected graduation of Fall 2026.
Before pivoting to cybersecurity, Louis spent over a decade as a paralegal specializing in real estate law and eviction proceedings for major financial institutions, working from offices in New York City, Salt Lake City, and Denver with caseloads spanning all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Years of navigating high-stakes legal environments, regulatory compliance, and sensitive data gave him a ground-level understanding of how organizations manage risk, long before he had the technical vocabulary to call it that.
That lived experience now shapes his approach to information security. Louis is particularly interested in AI governance, digital ethics, and emerging international tech policy, areas where legal fluency and technical knowledge intersect. He holds certifications from Fortinet and PrivacyOps, and believes the next generation of security professionals must be as ethically sharp as they are technically skilled.
Outside the classroom, he hikes in the Colorado Rockies with his beagle and volunteers with LGBTQ+ organizations.
