Long Bio

Xia Zhang, Ph.D., Teaching Professor of Chinese, joined Arizona State University in 2002. Since joining, she has taught a wide range of undergraduate Chinese language courses (from beginning to advanced level), as well as graduate courses in Chinese linguistics and the pedagogy of teaching Chinese as a second language. In recent years, she has developed and taught beginning to intermediate Chinese courses in various formats, including intensive, hybrid, and online modalities.

Dr. Zhang also serves as the coordinator and teaching assistant supervisor for lower-division Chinese language courses. In addition, she has previously held roles as Principal Investigator (PI), Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI), and Program Director for the ASU Chinese STARTALK program over an 11 year span.
