Beckman is the Associate Chair for Chemical Engineering. His current research involves energy efficient Dewvaporation in the application to desalination of seawater, concentration of waste streams, CMP and Evaporation Pond reclamation , VOC removal of ground waters, fractionation of multi-component systems. ASU patents associated with dewvaporation are being commercialized. He has spent thirty years as an academic professor in the areas of process design, unit operations and simultaneous heat and mass transport phenomena, six years as a process engineer in the petroleum and chemical industry including R&D, design and plant operation and thirty years as a consultant in heat/mass transfer, distillation, crystallization and process engineering.
Expertise
Desalination and water reclamation distillation energy reduction
