Antonia “Toni” Miceli joined the faculty of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in August 2024 as the school’s inaugural Director of Bar Exam Success. In this role, she leads ASU Law’s comprehensive bar success strategy, designing data-driven programming, jurisdiction-specific support, and equity-focused interventions to ensure graduates are prepared for the bar exam and for practice.
Miceli previously spent 13 years on the faculty of Saint Louis University School of Law, where she served as Director of Academic and Bar Exam Success. During her tenure, SLU Law achieved record-high first-time Missouri bar passage rates and was nationally recognized for value-added bar exam performance.
A nationally recognized expert on the Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) and the forthcoming NextGen Uniform Bar Exam, Miceli is the co-author of The Ultimate Guide to the UBE (Wolters Kluwer, 2021; Redesigned ed. 2022). Prof. Miceli is a past President of the Association of Academic Support Educators and serves on several national advisory committees and boards.
Miceli is also a frequent national presenter on bar exam success, licensure reform, and legal education innovation. She has delivered invited talks and workshops for the Law School Admission Council, AccessLex Institute, the American Bar Association, the Association of Academic Support Educators, and the Southeastern Association of Law Schools, among others. Her recent presentations have addressed topics such as preparing law schools for the NextGen Bar Exam, supporting neurodiverse students, and integrating bar exam skills into the doctrinal curriculum.
Central to her work is a commitment to innovation in legal education. As part of AccessLex Institute’s Building Bar Skills Initiative, she co-developed Civil Procedure Bar Skills Modules and authored a Mixed-Subject Module (Criminal Law/Torts/Evidence) that equip law faculty with ready-to-use curricular tools for introducing NextGen skills into doctrinal courses.
Her current scholarship focuses on equity in legal licensure, particularly the fragmented accommodations process across law school, the MPRE, and the bar exam. In recognition of this work, she was awarded the 2025 AccessLex | AASE Faculty Scholarship Grant for her project Stop Moving the Bar: How State Practices Undermine Disability Rights in Legal Licensure, which she will present at the 2026 AASE Annual Conference.
Miceli holds a JD from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and an MPH in epidemiology from Saint Louis University. Her teaching, research, and service reflect a holistic and student-centered approach, with the goal of empowering all law students — especially those from underrepresented or neurodiverse backgrounds — to thrive in law school, on the bar exam, and in their professional careers.
