Soroush Samareh Abolhassani is a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, where he previously served as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. His research focuses on urban building energy modeling (UBEM), urban microclimate simulation, green infrastructure for heat mitigation, and the thermal impacts of data centers on surrounding neighborhoods. He combines physics-based simulation, field measurements, and machine learning to understand how buildings and cities respond to extreme heat, with applications in hot-desert cities such as Phoenix.
He received his PhD in Information and Systems Engineering from Concordia University in 2024 and holds an MSc in Building Engineering. Before joining ASU, he worked in industry on building energy management systems at EnerZam and on Wi-Fi sensing for building occupancy detection, with applications in building energy management, at Aerial AI.
