Maya is broadly interested in trust and advice adherence: why people trust, and ultimately act on, guidance from others. She draws on socio-ecological and cultural frameworks to examine these topics across human relationships and human-technology interactions. She is also interested in the cultural products of such interactions, and how they have shifted across historical time.
Maya is a Social Psychology PhD student in the Culture and Decision Science Network Lab (Dr. Virginia Kwan), and the Culture and Ecology Lab (Dr. Michael Varnum).
She previously assisted in research at the University of Chicago for Dr. Shigehiro Oishi's lab, as well as the University of Southern California for Dr. Susan Luczak's lab.
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, University of Southern California (2024)
Minor: East Asian Languages and Cultures (Japanese)
