Karen Benson

Dr. Karen Benson is a champion of aspiring teachers and leaders pursuing careers in education today.  She brings over 25 years of service in the field -- having worked in diverse roles as a K–12 teacher, adjunct faculty member, and district leader. She has extensive experience in teacher induction, professional development and mentoring, leadership development, and in leading continuous improvement efforts at the school, district and regional levels.   

The current landscape of education influenced by the rapid speed of change in technology and context of the world at large pose big opportunities and complexities for educators.  Equipping teachers and leaders with tools to thrive and positively impact the learning and experiences of students is central to her core mission.

Dr. Benson joined the team of educators at the Mary Lou Fulton College as Clinical Assistant Professor in the fall of 2024.    

She holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, Curriculum Studies, from Arizona State University, and is a proud and grateful  “Mom” of two young men, Clay and Cole, and companion to Michael Anderson.
