David Hammond

David Hammond is originally from Chicago, Illinois and has lived in Arizona for about 15 years. He currently resides in Gilbert with my wife and our Great Dane. He completed my bachelor's degree in education at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and his Juris Doctorate from DePaul College of Law in Chicago, Illinois.  

Hammond has been with Arizona State University since 2001. He is a faculty associate in the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies (BIS) program and teaches core classes for the BIS degree. He has also served as diversity coordinator in the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering. Before coming to ASU, he served as director of development for Central Arizona Shelter Services, a non-profit organization in Phoenix. His previous positions in higher education include serving as an advisor in the University without Walls program at Northeastern Illinois University and diversity coordinator at the University of Utah. While he has enjoyed all of my roles and responsibilities assumed over the years, facilitating classes is by far, one of the most gratifying. There is much to be said about the sense of accomplishment and the learning experiences gotten from teaching and interacting with students. He looks forward to assisting students in the pursuit of their academic goals. 

In his spare time, he enjoys working jigsaw puzzles, watching classic movies and going to baseball games.
