Dr. Faenza completed her undergraduate studies in public health as a McNair Scholar at the University of South Carolina before returning to her home state of Maryland to complete her medical degree at University of Maryland’s primary care track. Following this, she completed her internal medicine residency and chief residency at the county’s safety-net hospital at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, CA. There, she enjoyed attending in high acuity and socioeconomically complex inpatient and outpatient settings, created and delivered over 100 didactic sessions, streamlined back-end processes, and worked with struggling learners.
The following year, Dr. Faenza joined HonorHealth's core faculty for the Internal Medicine residency program and was voted Faculty Teacher of the Year. Her research experience spans a variety of approaches, including community-based participatory research, systematic reviews, quality improvement, graduate medical education, ontologic, and traditional bench research. She is passionate about the role of primary care in community health, assisting patients and families navigating multiple medical comorbidities, and guiding learners through practical didactics, nuanced diagnosis of their barriers, and targeted learning plans. Dr. Faenza is dedicated to supporting Arizona's next generation of physician scientists as the ASU and HonorHealth Internal Medicine Clerkship Director.
