Katie Wilcox is a clinical assistant professor at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Her background is in investigative and data journalism. Katie moved to Phoenix in 2019 to relaunch the investigative unit at 12News, as I-Team Executive Producer.
Before joining the 12News I-Team, Katie was an investigative data journalist at 9NEWS in Denver. Katie has worked in front of and behind the camera, as a reporter, producer, photographer, data journalist, and executive producer. Her work has prompted legislation, criminal investigations and policy change in Colorado and Arizona. It has also been recognized with 15 regional Emmy Awards, a National Headliner, the National Society for Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award, the 2018 Investigative Reporter & Editor’s Award and 2018 National Edward R. Murrow Award. Katie earned her bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Journalism from the University of Iowa.
