Mike Hackman is a faculty associate who will be teaching SLB 598: Applied Marketing this Spring semester. He previously was an adjunct professor at Portland State University where he taught a highly rated sports marketing course from 2009-12. Mike received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from DePauw University (1989) and a Master's Degree in Sport Marketing & Management from Indiana University (1991). He began his 34-year sports career at Indiana Sports Corporation in Indianapolis where he worked on numerous ISC Events including the NCAA Final Four, FIBA World Basketball Championships, the NBA Draft, U.S. Olympic Congress, U.S. Olympic Basketball Exhibitions, and the NCAA Relocation Bid.
Mike then spent 22 years (1997-2019) creating, directing, and managing various sports marketing platforms in the U.S. and around the world for Nike Global Basketball and the Jordan Brand. While in various roles, he developed and implemented innovative strategies to market the Nike and Jordan brands to the elite global basketball community and worked with the world’s leading basketball organizations (NBA, FIBA, NCAA, USA Basketball, Euroleague, etc.). He conducted elite events on six continents and worked with the world’s top collegiate, NBA & international coaches. During this time, Mike also directed the staff and operations of the Michael Jordan Senior Flight School, the world's premier fantasy camp, for 12 years (1998-2010).
Mike then spent two years consulting before becoming the Global Sales & Business Development Director for FastModel Sports (2022-2025), a leading basketball technology company. There, he built an international customer base from zero to include professional clubs in 35+ leagues and 15 national teams.
