Bruno Sinopoli is a Professor and Director of the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering. Sinopoli received his laurea in electrical engineering from the Università di Padova and master's and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. From 2007 to 2018, he served on the faculty of Carnegie Mellon University. During his time there, Sinopoli also served as co-director of the Smart Infrastructure Institute and held affiliate appointments in Mechanical Engineering and with the university’s Robotics Institute. From 2019 to 2025, he served as The Das Family Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Preston M. Green Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering in the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
Research areas:
Smart infrastructures (e.g. energy, transportation, buildings), resilient cyber-physical systems, networked and distributed control systems, distributed inference in networks, control of computing systems, energy systems, neuro-inspired learning and control, dimensionality reduction and human-AI interaction.
