Dr. Joshua Cunio is the Co-CEO of the Project Science Institute and the CEO of Striatus, a company developing cognitive operating systems for government applications. Across more than 18 years leading complex portfolios in defense, aerospace, retail, and government services, he has directed a $250M+ technology development portfolio at Elbit Systems of America under government contracts with full P&L and ITAR/EAR responsibility, delivered an $80M+ ground-up distribution center program for Harbor Freight Tools, and managed federal, interagency, and public infrastructure programs ranging from $30M to $170M.
Dr. Cunio is a recognized voice in the advancement of project management as a discipline. He is a contributing author to the PMI PMBOK Guide, 7th and 8th Editions, and PMI's The Standard for AI in Portfolio, Program, and Project Management, and he serves as Founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Project Science, the Project Science Institute's quarterly scholarly publication. He is the creator of the Project Integrated Lessons Learned (PILL) methodology and its AI-augmented successor, PILLAR AI, and the author of The Project Manager's Guide to Lessons Learned. His current research interests sit at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, and project leadership.
As a U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Cunio served in Army Aviation as an AH-64D Apache helicopter armament/avionic/electronics systems maintainer, before becoming a CID Special Agent. Post active-duty service, he continues to serve as an officer in the Texas State Guard.
