Orlando Cazarez is a conservation leader with over two decades of experience driving sustainability initiatives across the corporate, nonprofit, and academic sectors. As Director of Global Conservation & Sustainability Learning Initiatives at Arizona State University’s Learning Enterprise, he leads the design of transformative programs that connect learners worldwide to the urgent work of restoring ecosystems and building climate resilience. His leadership bridges ASU’s Global Futures Laboratory with global partners to expand access to high-impact conservation education.
Before joining ASU, Orlando served as Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona Sustainability Alliance, where he guided a diverse portfolio of programs in urban forestry, sustainable food systems, clean energy, and community-based conservation. Under his leadership, the organization launched federally funded initiatives, forged partnerships with The Nature Conservancy, corporate and government partners and planted more than 3,000 trees to advance urban canopy equity across Arizona.
Born in Sinaloa, Mexico and raised in Phoenix, Orlando is a proud U.S. Army veteran, first-generation college graduate, and devoted family man who finds balance and inspiration in nature, art, and craftsmanship. He is the creative force behind @CarverMountainShop, where he transforms recycled materials into functional art that reflects his deep connection to place and sustainability. Orlando holds degrees from Thunderbird School of Global Management and Arizona State University, and has served on multiple regional and national boards advancing sustainability, equity, and leadership in conservation.
