Brett Petersen

Brett Petersen is a full-time instructor within the School of Social Work at Arizona State University. Brett is a proud Sun Devil and alumni graduating with his MSW in 2011. Brett is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and works as a direct practitioner for a local counseling agency specializing in working with adults and adolescents facing issues with trauma, anxiety and depression. He is trained in several modalities including DBT, ACT, CBT, and EMDR.

Brett Petersen also has extensive experience providing social work on the community level. Brett worked with several agencies assisting older adults including serving as the Early Stage program coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association. Brett has facilitated several caregiver support and psychoeducation groups across the valley. He collaborated with several community organizations and has chaired the LGBT Boomers and Beyond Coalition, an organization that helps LGBT seniors find and access community resources. Brett is passionate about working with future social workers and helping them learn their profession. 

In the Fall of 2019, Brett Petersen, was appointed as the MSW Program Coordinator and works students and faculty to ensure the Master’s program is the very best it can be.
