Long Bio
Mary Benin is an Emeritus Associate Professor from the T. Denny School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. One of the most enjoyable aspects of sociological research is that one can examine topics which relate to one's personal life. Studying the conflicts between the demands of family and work has been a natural topic for Benin. As a wife and mother, she feels that she is constantly juggling the demands of her roles as parent, spouse, teacher and researcher. Keeping all the balls in the air at once is a constant challenge. In her research, she looks for ways in which employers and family members can help to balance the often exhausting demands faced by employed parents.
