William K. McCurry is a former Chair of the Department of Aeronautical Management Technology at Arizona State University, Mesa, Arizona, and a tenured Professor. Prior to coming to Arizona State University in the fall of 1995, he was the Chair of the Department of Aerospace Technology at Indiana State University. Dr. McCurry received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in 1989 in Educational Psychology & Research. He attained an MS in Counseling and Guidance from Troy State University in 1973 and his BS in Psychology from Purdue University in 1963. His research interests are in human factors and safety. He has extensive aviation safety, maintenance, and combat operational flight experience having left military service as a Lieutenant Colonel and a Master Army Aviator. Prior to retiring from the U.S. Army, he was the Chief, Force Modernization Branch at Fort Hood, TX., where he also acted as the Project Officer for the fielding of the AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter. Dr. McCurry holds a commercial SEL, MEL, rotorcraft, instrument, advanced ground and CFI certificates. Dr. McCurry was a co-developer of the Arizona State University Airline Bridge Training Model, a one-of-a-kind airline-focused pilot training program with direct collaboration with a major regional airline. He is a member of the Board of Trustees, Aviation Accreditation Board International and has held positions as Secretary and Treasurer of the University Aviation Association and Chair of the Air Transportation Ab Initio Training Committee.
