Dr. Mamlouk's main area of expertise includes pavement analysis and design, pavement maintenance and rehabilitation, and highway materials. He has served as the P.I. and Co-P.I. of many research projects sponsored by NCHRP, FHWA, NHI, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Arizona DOT, and various local agencies. Dr. Mamlouk has numerous publications and is the main author of a textbook Materials for Civil and Construction Engineers published by Pearson-Prentice Hall. He is a professional engineer in the state of Arizona. He is a fellow of ASCE and a member of TRB, AAPT and ASTM.

Pavement analysis and design, pavement management systems, pavement maintenance and evaluation, highway materials, vehicle-pavement interaction, and computer applications.
Dr. Mike Mamlouk played a major role in introducing the subject of dynamic analysis as a viable method for pavement evaluation. He has directed numerous research projects on pavement evaluation, material testing, preventive maintenance and nondestructive testing. He successfully completed many research projects, including a multi-year project on Pavement Preventive Maintenance supported by the FHWA. He recently completed a major NCHRP research project on endurance limit of hot-mix asphalt. He is currently working on projects dealing with the effect of synthetic fibers on the performance of asphalt pavements and the effect of pavement condition on accident rate.
Dr. Mamlouk has published numerous technical papers and has been actively involved in professional societies such as ASCE, AAPT, TRB and ASTM. He is the main author of the “Materials for Civil and Construction Engineers” textbook that has been used by over 150 schools worldwide. He has been a consultant and expert witness for many industrial agencies. He is a professional engineer in the state of Arizona.
