As the Program Manager with the Levin Center, Cindy is responsible for managing the Joaquin Bustoz Math-Science Honors Program (JBMSHP), a summer mathematics program for academically talented Arizona high school students who are underrepresented in the mathematics and science fields as well as the Mathematical and Theoretical Biology Institute, a summer training research institute. She analyzes and assesses needs of student participants and families to ensure academic and personal success, partnering with university programs and departments, state-wide high school faculty and staff and the community. Cindy also develops and coordinates training workshops for summer staff such as dealing with students in crisis, student discipline, harassment and working as a team to create a positive learning environment for students.
Cindy is passionate about working with a diverse population of students, including first-generation students. She has also taught Academic Success and Communication classes both at ASU and at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and helps students to explore personal and academic strengths and barriers that impact success and helped them discover ways to stay on course to meet academic goals.
