Dr. Kyle Ross is originally from Northwest Indiana from an area called “The Region”, but has been living in Arizona since he came out for college in 1999, Go Devils! He started his career as a high school English and journalism teacher at Desert Mountain High School, where he was Department Chair, as well as sponsor of the Wolf’s Print student newspaper and DMTV. He moved into school leadership as an AP at Chaparral High School, before becoming Director of Instructional Technology and Director of Assessment for the Scottsdale Unified District. In 2017, he moved to the Kyrene School District as the principal of Kyrene del Pueblo Middle School for 3 years, until the pandemic started. He then designed and opened Kyrene Digital Academy, Kyrene’s online K-8 school, which he lead for 4 years. Following KDA's closure he was the leader of Kyrene Online Learning and the Kyrene Alternative to Suspension Program. Currently, Dr. Ross is an elementary principal in the Kyrene School District. His core belief since he began teaching in 1999 has always been that learning and fun are not antonyms, and he is committed to creating a learning environment that delights students and inspires them to love learning. He is excited to serve as an associate faculty member at ASU, and looks forward to supporting you in this course.
