Moses Sanchez is an instructor at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, where he teaches at the downtown Phoenix campus. With a strong foundation in business and public service, Sanchez brings a unique blend of military discipline, entrepreneurial experience, and dedicated classroom instruction to higher education.
Immigrating to the United States from the Republic of Panama as a child with his parents and infant sister, Sanchez joined the U.S. Navy immediately after high school in 1995, serving actively before continuing in the reserves and retiring honorably on June 1, 2022. He earned a B.S. in Business Management and an MBA, equipping him for diverse professional roles, including work in congressional offices, and he founded his own digital marketing and SEO business (Moses SEO), where he has specialized in helping professional services clients since 2012.
Sanchez has been a committed educator since 2009, primarily teaching Macroeconomics and Microeconomics at South Mountain Community College. His teaching philosophy centers on servant leadership, real-world application, and empowering students—particularly first-generation and diverse learners—to bridge theory with practice. He emphasizes inclusive environments, critical thinking, and adaptability in rapidly evolving fields like business, economics, and digital communication. A Th.D. student at Pontifex University, he hosts Spes et Gaudium, blogs at mosesanchez.com, and draws from his SEO and military background.
A longtime Phoenix resident (Ahwatukee since 2004), Sanchez is deeply involved in community leadership, having served on the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board and various nonprofit boards. He is a family man—husband to Maria Manriquez, M.D., father, and grandfather ("Abuelito")—and draws from his Navy background and business acumen to mentor students in leadership, resilience, and ethical decision-making.
At ASU, Sanchez is excited to contribute to the Cronkite School's innovative, hands-on approach to education, preparing the next generation of journalists, communicators, and leaders. He welcomes collaboration on teaching initiatives and student mentorship.
